प्रस्तावना / Introduction झारखंड, बिहार और ओडिशा में हाल के वर्षों में Kurmi समाज ने खुद को  आदिवासी सूची (Scheduled Tribe)  में शामिल करने की मांग उठाई है। यह सवाल सिर्फ राजनीति का नहीं है बल्कि संविधान और सामाजिक न्याय से भी जुड़ा है। In Jharkhand, Bihar, and Odisha, the Kurmi community has demanded inclusion in the  Scheduled Tribe (Adivasi) list . This issue is not just political but also constitutional and social. संविधान क्या कहता है? / What Does the Constitution Say? भारतीय संविधान का  Article 342  कहता है कि किसी भी जाति या समुदाय को  Scheduled Tribe  घोषित करने का अधिकार सिर्फ राष्ट्रपति के पास है, और यह संसद की मंजूरी से ही संभव है। Article 342 of the Indian Constitution states that only the President, with parliamentary approval, can notify any community as a Scheduled Tribe.
